Who wins US government contracts

Federal contract awards are permanent public record: every prime award names the company that won it, the agency that bought, what it was worth and where the work happens. These pages put one company's award record on one page, with a link to the government's own page for every award we list.

If you are chasing federal work, the incumbent is the most useful thing on any solicitation. They are your competition if you bid prime, your customer if you subcontract, and the reason the requirement is written the way it is.

Contractors in the award record

Contractors that rank near the top of at least one state's award leaderboard, ordered by the award dollars recorded in those states. Both figures below cover only the states where a contractor appears in a leaderboard, so they are a floor, not a company total — open a contractor's page for what we hold on them beyond these states.

Showing the 25 with the largest totals recorded in those states. At least 523 contractors clear the floor for a page of their own; the state lists below carry up to 8 each.

Leaderboards computed August 21, 2026. Ordering is by award dollars in this dataset. It is not a ranking of contractors by quality, capability or size, and nothing on these pages is an assessment of any company.

At least 472 more hold fewer than 25 awards in these leaderboards. Some of them will have a page of their own once their full record is counted; the directory only lists a contractor once it can show that the floor is cleared.

Contractors by state

Up to 8 contractors per state, those holding the most federal award dollars for work performed there. A company can appear under several states, because this is where the work was performed and not where the company is based.

How to use a contractor's award history

Most contractors start at the wrong end: they find an open solicitation, spend two weeks on a proposal, and lose to an incumbent who has held the work for nine years. Award history runs the other way round. You start from who already holds the work, learn which agency buys it and what it pays, and show up already knowing the job.

A contractor page tells you three things a solicitation will not. Which agencies buy from them — those offices post again, and a recompete is the most winnable contract in government because the requirement is already written. What the awards are worth — which tells you whether this work is your size before you spend a day on a bid you cannot bond or staff. And when the work ends — a period of performance running out twelve to eighteen months from now is a recompete in the making, and the agency starts market research long before anything is posted.

Teaming is the other use. A prime with more work than capacity is a customer, not just a competitor, and the fastest route into federal contracting for most small businesses is a subcontract on a contract someone else already won.

Where these figures come from

  • Source. Every figure in this namespace is public federal spending data from USAspending.gov, the federal government's official record of its own spending. Public record, free to read, with no data vendor in between. Each award on a contractor page links to its own record there.
  • Scope. These records cover federal PRIME contract awards (award types A, B, C and D) published by USAspending.gov. It does not include subcontracts, grants, loans, state or local government work, commercial revenue, or any award outside the fiscal years loaded here. No page here shows a company's complete history, and the totals are a floor.
  • What a listing is not. Appearing on this site is not an endorsement, a rating or a verification of any company. These pages report what the federal award record contains and nothing else.
  • Which companies get a page. Those with at least 25 federal prime contract awards in this record, and a Unique Entity ID to identify them by. Below that there is too little on file to describe a business honestly, so no page is generated.
  • Missing values. Where USAspending records no amount, agency, or location, we leave it out instead of filling it in. An award with no reported amount is counted as an award but enters no total.
