Sam's plain-English summary

The Federal Bureau of Prisons is seeking bids to install a carbon monoxide detection system at FCI Safford, a federal prison facility. This is a presolicitation notice, meaning the formal solicitation hasn't been released yet—this is advance notice to interested contractors. The deadline for submitting bids is August 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM Eastern Time. This deadline is not unusually soon since this is a presolicitation notice giving advance warning. The solicitation does not specify bonding or insurance requirements in this notice, but these details will likely appear in the final solicitation. Bids typically get disqualified for: failing to meet the stated deadline, not having required certifications or licenses for the work, submitting incomplete proposals, not following the specific bid format requested, or lacking required bonding/insurance when the final solicitation is released. Since this involves work at a federal facility, contractors should expect standard federal compliance requirements.

This bid is reserved — No Set aside used

This is a set-aside — competition is limited to a specific group of qualifying businesses. Confirm you're eligible before investing in a bid.

If you meet that requirement, this could be a fit if: You likely qualify if your business is a licensed electrical or mechanical contractor experienced with fire/safety detection system installation, holds or can obtain any required federal facility access credentials, maintains general liability insurance, and can work with federal procurement processes. Experience with institutional or government building projects is helpful.
