Sam's plain-English summary
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is seeking bids to replace Summer Boiler #2 at FCI Marion federal prison. Bids are due June 29, 2026 at 4:00 PM Eastern Time—this is a normal timeline, not unusually rushed. This is a sealed-bid procurement, meaning you submit one bid and cannot revise it after opening. The solicitation does not specify bonding or insurance requirements in the provided information, though federal construction work typically requires performance and payment bonds. Bids get disqualified most often for: failing to meet technical specifications for the boiler replacement, not submitting required certifications or compliance documentation, missing the deadline, or being non-responsive to the detailed scope of work. Since this is federal prison infrastructure work, you'll need to pass security and background checks. The NAICS code 238220 indicates this is classified as plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning contractors work.
This bid is reserved — No Set aside used
This is a set-aside — competition is limited to a specific group of qualifying businesses. Confirm you're eligible before investing in a bid.
If you meet that requirement, this could be a fit if: You are a licensed HVAC/boiler contractor with experience on federal or institutional projects, can obtain security clearance for prison facility access, have bonding capacity, and can document similar boiler replacement projects you've completed.
